In this role, you will be responsible for setting up the lab equipment, tools, and prototype materials. You will be tasked to prepare assembly area for specific prototype build, help procure parts for the project, Assemble robots (consisting of mechanical structures, electro-mechanical components, and wiring harnesses) and keep track of WIP and finished projects. You will be taking instruction from engineers to assemble prototype devices, provide feedback on assembly process to improve SOP (statement of work), and collect data finds of components and finished good for engineers. You will need to have strong troubleshooting skills down to component levels as well as possess the ability to execute complex, detailed test procedures and obtain mechanical measurement with minimal input from engineering and minimal supervision.

2+ years of experience in mechanical assembly and test of consumer electronics, industrial grade components

Experience in reading and understanding component and assembly drawings
Experience managing multiple demanding deadlines and being able to work across multiple teams
Experience planning and maintaining lab facilities for optimal efficiency and creating new processes when necessary
Experience with lab safety, security and quality practices

·Educational background of AS in Engineering or equivalent experience

·2+ years of experience in assembly of devices (electro-mechanical, consumer electronics, etc.) and/or systems (computers, robots, etc.)

·Experience interpreting Electrical schematic

·Experience with using hand tools, and power tools for assembly

·Experience in troubleshooting defective devices

·Experience in soldering small components on printed circuit boards

·Ability to use digital multimeter or oscilloscope for troubleshooting

·Ability to perform device level functional test

·Ability to set up test station, run tests, and collect relevant data

·Experience using MS Office, Excel (Experience with Solidworks is a plus)

·Ability to follow verbal instructions, production drawings, and sample assemblies

·Good verbal and written communication skills

·Experience organizing and maintaining calibrated stock of critical test equipment for troubleshooting and debug.

Notes

Onsite every day, will work very closely with the 2 engineers that are onsite

Flexible ,but be considerate of the needs of the office, be willing to come in if there is testing they need to support, or if they go to an outside vendor to use their facility – AAA built facility to test autonomous vehicles, may need to bein early for that.

There will be some days when they need to be in for specific tests, drives, etc. so need to be willing to flex

Higher education is great if they have it, any vocational courses, ASE certification

**No Engineering degrees, they will want to do the engineering work too quickly and they need a technician

The engineers have been doing this role in the past, but there are a lot more projects coming. There is Tiago, the Senior Manager and two engineers

Increasing the capacity of the cars, building entire vehicles. The engineers will build the first vehicle, then the technician will be given a set of instructions, they will follow the instructions – these are one off prototypes, and they will do the build.

High end, high tech vehicles, standard Nissan cars, advanced UX and ADAS components

Will be expected to build, assemble and troubleshoot

Very mechanically inclined, can use tools, not a lot of electrical, don’t need solid works,

They are being given the solution, they will get more experienced and then can start to troubleshoot,

Will be responsible for the shop area – 2 core responsibilities - vehicle builds and shop area – keep it clean, organized and make sure parts/supplies are ordered, put away, etc

Anything that had consumer system, hands on, take things apart, work in any technical side,

Manufacturing, maintenance, etc.

Inspiration to become an engineer, or has done troubleshooting.
Stock hardware, materials, plastics, metals, nuts and bolts – keep track of the inventory, when stock arrives, put it away,
Outlook is very important, Excel and PowerPoint– they have to do a lot of “show and tell”.Need to be able to put information down, so others can see it

Do a lot of demos for executives, they do research.

Monday.com for project management, they can put a lot of content in there and make PowerPoint presentations
