Summit Materials, market leading producer of aggregates and cement, is seeking a Lead Mechanic to join their team in the Duluth, GA area.

If you have at least 2 years of management experience and heavy/medium duty fleet mechanics experience, Summit Materials wants to hear from you!

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe work environment by enforcing all safety policies and procedures, while consistently demonstrating and communicating that safety is the top priority.
  • Foster a positive team atmosphere that encourages engagement, accountability, and collaboration toward shared goals.
  • Supervise and lead a team of at least 8 technicians, ensuring efficient workflow, high performance, and strong communication across all shifts.
  • Oversee daily operations of a fleet of 86-100 trucks, managing both routine maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Provide hands-on support on the shop floor, while balancing office-based responsibilities, including answering phone inquiries, coordinating service requests, and delegating work assignments.
  • Apply effective leadership and management techniques to motivate the team, resolve challenges, and maintain a productive and positive work environment.
  • Oversee maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of trucks and heavy equipment, ensuring all work meets company quality and safety standards.
  • Perform mechanical repairs and general appearance reconditioning of equipment to maintain operational readiness.
  • Accurately identify required parts and materials for the repair of disassembled units and ensure timely procurement.
  • Identify, document, and communicate repair needs through proper completion of repair orders and other required documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company guidelines and best practices.
  • Conduct daily routine maintenance and execute preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the long-term reliability of equipment.
  • Work a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7 AM – 4 PM, with availability for every third Saturday and overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the maintenance team and overall business operations.
