For each trade, non-journey level employees may be placed in apprenticeship programs that offer individuals new to the industry On the Job Training (OJT) opportunities. The recruitment process will include a pre-employment background check, physical, and a drug screening.


Mechanic

A pre-employment physical and drug screen are required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out routine truck and equipment maintenance and inspections
  • Maintaining a variety of vehicles and equipment
  • Troubleshooting and making general repairs
  • Using a variety of hand and power tools
  • Must acquire a Commercial Driver License (CDL) 
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Working at heights with the use of mobile equipment and ladders
  • Frequently standing, using hands to operate tools, handling or feeling, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, and talking or hearing. Occasionally walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Works safely near and around highway traffic and noisy operations
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 30-50 lbs, and occasionally up to 100 lbs
