Mechanic Helper
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assists with mechanical inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist mechanics and welders in general maintenance and repair.
- Check for problems and communicate up the reporting chain.
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA Standards.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language to interpret manuals and directions on the job, over the radio, and to ensure safety for all on the work site.
- Ability to operate a forklift, use various hand / power tools, calibrating tools, soldering iron, drill press, welding, cutting equipment, levels, and measuring tape.
- Qualified to operate an overhead crane.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to comprehend and convey mechanical information.
- Ability to use computers, read & interpret manuals, basic welding & cutting skills and experience in cane grinding or similar processing environments.
- Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment, remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team, as needed.
- Bilingual and Biliterate – English and Spanish, preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of industrial mechanical skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular attendance is required during your schedule shift.
- Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on weather.
- Must be able to work in all positions (overhead, kneeling, reaching, crawling & working in small workspaces) & be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Sugar Dryer
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Sugar Dryer Operator's primary responsibility is to operate sugar drying equipment, ensuring the conversion of raw sugar into its dry form. This role involves meticulous control of parameters like temperature, humidity, and airflow for effective drying. Alongside operational tasks, the operator conducts equipment maintenance, record-keeping, and upholds strict safety and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate batch and continuous centrifugal.
- Monitor sugar quality.
- Advise the Centrifugal Leader and Supervisor of any abnormalities.
- Observe the flow of materials through elevators and conveyors to prevent jamming or spillage.
- Signal the Centrifugal Operator to synchronize the flow of materials to the rate of intake at the drier.
- Dump sugar dust from the collector into melting tanks.
- Add water to reclaim sugar lost during the process.
- Clean equipment with steam, hot water, and a hose.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to receive and carry out verbal instructions, operate various types of equipment including Gauges, thermometer, computer, various hand & power tools and forklift
- Bilingual – English and Spanish, preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma (or GED)
- 1 year of previous experience in technical or vocational training in equipment operation, industrial processes, or a related field.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work in sitting, walking, standing, kneeling, crawling & reaching positions as well as working in confined spaces.
- As well, must be able to lift from 25 to 50 pounds.
