This position will be working out of our Irwindale, CA location and will support our Fleet from our Los Angeles County Operations. Ideal candidates should have at least 3 years of automotive mechanic experience.*

Position Summary:
The primary job responsibilities of the Mechanic Level II/B is to be responsible and accountable for providing quality mechanical repairs and maintenance work up to their level of certification, utilizing all resources available within the shop area. The Mechanic Level II/B will provide ongoing preventive maintenance to include all emergency repairs and roadwork necessary. Performs maintenance and repairs on all fleet vehicles, including but not limited to diagnosing, disassembling and assembling components and engines.
The primary objective of the Mechanic Level II/B is to provide a safe, qualified shop environment for himself as well as other technicians while being available to answer questions both to the field personnel and supervisors. Must provide their own basic hand tools. Performs a higher range of maintenance functions involving additional mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic components. This position also uses more specialized equipment for repair and diagnostics. This class differs from the Mechanic I position, given the higher skills required to use more specialized diagnostic equipment, greater independence of action needed to diagnose a range of mechanical and repair needs, and the higher complexity level of the work assignments performed. Employee satisfies all of the requirements outlined as a Level 1 Technician.
Pay Range: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour (dependent on experience)

Responsibilities:
The Mechanic Level 2 may be assigned one or more duties. These duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Diagnose both gasoline and diesel engines: Overhaul complete engines, replace engine components: Turbo, EGR, egr cooler, injectors, high fuel pressure pumps and seals under minimal supervision of level III mechanic.
- Electrical: Test for draws, shorts and open in wiring harness. Perform installations of aftermarket components: back up cameras, shift locks and anti-theft systems.
- Diagnose OBD-II codes with diagnostic tools, use repair guides and diagnostic tools: Xentry, IDS and MDI.
- Replace or repair faulty parts including wheel bearings, clutches, oil seals, shock absorbers, exhaust systems, steering mechanisms, and related parts.
- Repair vehicle heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), belts, hoses, water pumps, and related parts, including refrigerant recycling and all component repair and replacement and exhaust systems.
- Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications including but not limited to engines, transmissions and clutches, drive-line, differential.
- Proficient in electrical meter testing.
- Service and perform preventative maintenance on ambulances, marketing cars and operation vehicles.
- Perform safety inspections on all vehicles and ensure repair has been completed before vehicle is released from the shop. Ensure there are no open defects or upcoming preventative maintenance due prior to releasing unit back into service.
- Clean shop and properly dispose of discarded mechanical parts and materials; recycle appropriate shop by-products including oil, antifreeze, and oil/fuel filters.
- Reports all requests for parts expenditures over $1000.00 to the appropriate Fleet Maintenance Shop Lead.
- Disassembles and performs partial or complete overhaul of engines, transmissions, differentials.
- Uses gauges, special tools, and specialized equipment to diagnose mechanical failure or problems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle problems.
- Installs and/or adjusts brakes, heaters and defrosters.
- Replaces worn or broken parts.
- Operates vehicles to diagnose problems and validate that repairs have been completed.
- Constructs, maintains or services shop equipment as necessary.
- Repairs gasoline and diesel engines.
- Repairs equipment and machinery as necessary.
- Performs duties of previous level in series, as listed below.
- Dispenses fuel, checks and refills fluid levels and changes oil and filters, as necessary
- Makes minor adjustments and repairs on equipment (such as repairing and/or replacing tires, head and tail lamps, muffler clamps, windshield wipers, and brakes and suspension)
- Checks equipment for defects (such as cracked or broken hoses or belts, worn tires, and inoperative lights)
- Removes and replaces batteries
- Oils and greases equipment
- Test drives vehicles to assure proper working order, and delivers vehicles for servicing or refueling
- Cleans vehicles
- Cleans garage area and maintains shop equipment
- Disassembles and cleans vehicle parts
- Fixes door handles and locking mechanisms.
- Expected to comply with company policies and procedures, loss prevention, safety, and environmental codes and ordinances.
- Other duties as assigned

- 3-6 ASE Certifications (these can be retrieved after hire)
