Busy mechanical construction company is looking for a motivated and positive individual for position of Construction Estimator. The ideal candidate should have experience doing estimating in Mechanical HVAC piping and duct systems for Public Projects (SCA, DDC, NYCHA, etc...) and Commercial Projects from start to finish.

Salary: $80,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year
Salary commensurate with experience
Responsibilities:
Review all contract documents (bid documents, specifications, drawings, scope, phasing, addendums, etc)
Attend Pre-Bid Meeting / Walk-Through / Survey
Submit Pre-Bid questions as needed
Correspond with vendors and subcontractors for quotations, review all quotations for inclusions and exclusions
Perform quantity on screen takeoffs
Prepare complete project estimates and proposals, inclusions and exclusions
Prepare change order estimates, proposals, and attend negotiation meetings
Ensure overall accuracy of estimates
Prepare necessary bid-documents
Conduct low bidder project hand-off meeting with PM, provide contract summary, review budgets, major contract milestones and potential pitfalls
Maintain effective verbal and written communication with the PM Team, Field Team, and Shop Team
Review estimating software and update labor productivity and material costs
Establish, review, and examine resources (labor, equipment, materials) from Project start to finish to supervise and ensure meeting budgetary goals
Review construction schedule and check intermediate phases and milestones to ensure project deadlines
Evaluate project progress and prepare detailed reports
Qualifications:
Must have at least 5+ years’ experience with Construction Estimating with project size $3M+
Thorough understanding of Mechanical HVAC systems / Sheet Metal / Steamfitting / Piping
Minimum 3 years of HVAC sheet metal estimating experience
Professional knowledge in using estimating software, on-screen takeoffs
Experience with Public projects and associated requirements, PLA / Prevailing Wage labor costs, compliance, etc.
In-depth understanding of construction process, change orders, procedures, and project management principles
Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
A team player with leadership abilities
Strong working knowledge of general construction, mechanical systems
Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, AutoCad MEP
Experience as Construction Project Manager is A PLUS!
Experience working on NYCSCA School Construction projects is A PLUS!
