Position: Full-Time (12-month) Assistant Automotive Mechanic/Bus Driver
The Croton-Harmon School District seeks a skilled School Bus Mechanic/Bus Driver to join our Transportation Department, responsible for assisting in performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and completing major and minor repairs on gasoline, diesel-powered, and electric buses and support vehicles. The ideal candidate will work with various mechanical and electrical systems—ranging from engines, transmissions, and brakes to HVAC, diagnostics, welding equipment, and specialty tools—ensuring all fleet vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards. You’ll play a vital role in keeping our school community moving safely and efficiently, support athletic trips and emergency road service, and collaborate closely with our transportation team.
Education & Experience:
– High school diploma or GED + 1 year automotive repair experience
– OR 4 years of automotive repair experience
– OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Licensure & Certifications:
– Valid NYS CDL with “S” (School Bus) and “P” (Passenger) endorsements
– Age 21–under 65
– NYSED fingerprinting/background clearance
– Compliance with NYS Commissioner of Education regulations for school bus drivers
