Job Description

Position Purpose:

Our growing team is looking for strong engineering candidates interested in working on some of the most exciting and challenging water and wastewater programs in the municipal water sector.

The Senior Technical Advisor - Water/Wastewater plays a critical role in the Municipal Water Contract Operations (MWCO) Growth organization. Within the Customer Solutions group, the role works closely with business development teams to assess municipal customer needs and develop compelling, coherent and competitive offers. This position bridges technical water/wastewater expertise with client engagement to bring best in class solutions reflecting Veolia’s “Professional Operations” standard of excellence. By combining a deep understanding of water and/or wastewater process, municipal utility operations and a consultative, client-first mindset, the Technical Advisor will translate client needs into structured solutions that drive lasting impact for our partners and sustainable growth for the business.

As a Senior Technical Advisor in our Customer Solutions group, you will sit at the intersection of strategy, technical leadership, and client partnership — shaping how cities deliver essential water services for the future.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide technical leadership in the business development process, serving as a subject matter expert internally and externally on sector trends, operational best practice, treatment technologies, regulatory environment, etc.
Own the technical elements of business development initiatives, including development of technical and performance frameworks and methodologies, business cases, lifecycle cost benefits, and long-term value aligned with Veolia’s Professional Operations value proposition.
Lead the development and packaging of new offers and solutions for the municipal market, and drive their implementation through transversal collaboration.
Oversee quality reviews of technical work products developed by the wider team, including technical reports, proposals, pricing methodologies, etc.
Establish thought leadership presence through keynote presentations at national conferences, author technical publications and industry articles, serve on industry committees and working groups, and represent the organization as a recognized technical leader.
Mentor and train junior technical staff and business developers, actively transferring capabilities to build organizational bench strength.

Work Environment:

Hybrid work environment.
Regular travel is to be expected for client engagement and new business.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Engineering (civil, mechanical, environmental, or process), Environmental Science or related field required.
15+ year’s progressive experience within O&M or engineering industries.
Experience in client-facing roles related to the implementation of municipal O&M projects.
Demonstrated leadership experience, such as through project leadership, people management or P&L responsibility.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Technical expertise: demonstrated mastery of municipal water and/or wastewater treatment with thorough experience with the methods, techniques, principles, and practices of water and wastewater treatment, water distribution, water reuse and wastewater collection.
Ability to perform water/wastewater system assessments with a structured methodology to reveal performance strengths, weaknesses, risks and business opportunities.
Systems thinking: ability to connect "big picture" trends and client needs to concrete solutions and actionable plans.
Strong business acumen, including strategic thinking, financial literacy, structured problem-solving, and experience with developing business cases, cost models and KPIs.
Project leadership: ability to organize work with structure, autonomy and strong project management skills. Ability to drive projects with multiple contributors, engaging internal resources effectively.
Delivery-driven with excellent prioritization, problem-solving and time management.
Consultative communication: active listening and ability to translate client needs into solutions.
Excellent presentation and storytelling skills. ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders and deliver impactful presentations.
Collaboration: Team player attitude with desire to work in a collective. Ability to achieve results by effectively delegating tasks and motivating others.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

Professional Engineer license.
Valid Driver’s license and safe driving record.
Confirmation of specialty skills is highly desirable, including Operator Certification, MBA, Lean Management, Advanced data analytics, Project Management.

Additional Information

Pay Range: $180000 to $200000 per year.
