Our mechanics work on school buses (diesel, gasoline, propane), maintenance trucks, school vans, and driver's ed cars. This is a year-round job with benefits. The transportation department works as a team, and the ideal candidate would be one who works well as a member of a team.

Qualifications |
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 High School Diploma or GED 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Must be 25 years of age 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Must have a CDL with bus driver endorsement. Note: We will train you in the first 90 days of work if you don鈥檛 have this already. This will prepare you to take and pass the required licensure tests. 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Three or more years of experience as a diesel or other mechanic preferred; knowledge of diesel and gas-powered engines required 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing |

Essential Functions or Duties |
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform preventive maintenance on school buses and other vehicles according to a pre-determined schedule 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform repairs on school buses and other vehicles on an as needed basis 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assist in preparation of school bus fleet for the annual State Highway Patrol inspection 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Install special adaptive equipment in buses on an as needed basis 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Deliver spare buses to breakdown location; attempt to bring disabled bus back to shop. 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Use a wrecker to tow a vehicle if needed 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Keep records of all maintenance and repairs for each unit. 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Drive a bus route on an as needed basis. 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Keep a clean work area and make sure that all tools are accounted for. 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform all duties with integrity, professionalism, and in compliance with all school, district, state, and federal laws/policies. 路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. 聽 |

Physical Demands |
Must be able to sit, stand, bend and reach while working on vehicles, drive all types of vehicles, and to climb into, on or under vehicles to perform maintenance and repairs, lift parts and components as needed, move throughout transportation facility, function in a multi-tasking, deadline oriented environment.
